An evening where stories turn into a food experience!

We found a forgotten Alexandrian cookbook from 1944 and we're bringing its recipes  back to the table!

The book was called La Main à la Pâte written by Rosette de Menasce. Rosette was born in Paris in 1875 and she made her way from a modest working-class background to the heart of Alexandria's cosmopolitan high society.

This time we'll prepare Rosette's recipes for you, tell you her story, and take you back to the Alexandria she knew.

what will the menu look like?

1. Le Foie Gras Moharram Bey: Neither Strasbourg nor Périgord can compete with this Alexandrian foie gras.

2. La Salade Pitoëff: Let's vary our pleasures with an oil-free salad. Simply divine!

3. Le Riz de Charles: A most distinguished rice, for a most distinguished dinner. Charles would approve.

4. Le Poulet au Paprika: Our friends who hunt were kind enough to send us a chicken.

5. Les Petites Galettes à la Bab Allah: A little treat for our no less sweet friends. 

And, of course, there’ll be delicious drinks and a wonderful atmosphere, brought to you by The Alexandria Deli, alongside the stories behind the recipes and Rosette, shared by footnotes.
